Copia Bronze Cabinet Hardware and Home Accents

Introducing a fresh collection of decorative hardware, accent tiles and accessories in lost-wax cast bronze. Working with a fine artist network, functional hardware presented from an artist’s perspective is the cornerstone for Copia Bronze.

Lost wax-cast process for each single item: Designs begin as clay original. From the original art a silicone mold is made and the original is destroyed. To reproduce the design, hot wax is poured into the mold, cooled, and removed. Flaws and mold parting lines are repaired. At a bronze foundry a high-temperature, ceramic shell is formed around the cleaned wax model. The shell is “burned out” in a kiln that incinerates the wax, leaving a hollow ceramic form. Molten bronze is poured into the ceramic form. Once cool, the shell is shattered to reveal the rough-cast bronze. Castings are cut from pour points. Using progressively finer tools. Imperfections and rough areas are smoothed and the piece is ready for patina.

Three hand-applied patinas are available: Antique Bronze: Waxed living finish. Easily maintained with occasional paste wax, will develop and deepen with age with no attention. Byzantine Bronze: Finish is stabilized with lacquer. Luster can be maintained with occasional paste wax. Over time, this finish will exhibit natural wear patterns. Dark Bronze: Finish is stabilized with lacquer. Luster can be maintained with occasional paste wax. Over time, this finish will exhibit natural wear patterns.
