Backset

Backset

The distance from the edge of the door to the center of the bore hole is called the 'Backset'.

Most new pre hung doors come with a standard 2 3/8" backset.

 (TIP: if not sure choose 2 3/8" backset 9 out of 10 times you should be fine)

If the hinges of your door are on the left when facing it from the exterior, then it is a 'Left Handed' door.
Right Hand

If the hinges of your door are on the right when facing it from the exterior, then it is a 'Right Handed' door.

This inoperable door lever or knob is on one side of the door. Typically used on closet doors or any other door that does not require a latch to hold door closed and is only opened from one side. (knob / Lever do not rotate)

These are inoperable door knobs or levers sets for both sides of a single door for doors that are are pre-drilled with a standard 2 1/8" diameter hole. Typically used on doors that require no latch to hold door in place and is opened from both inside and outside of the door. (knobs / Levers do not rotate)
